ELA (English Language Arts)

After a long relaxing winter break we have hit the ground running with an informational writing piece. We have started the beginning process and the steps to our informational  piece. We are currently learning about what elements go into an informational writing piece, what the structure of an informational piece looks like.

Up next, students will be choosing a topic to write about, and drafting their informational writing. We are still focusing on our suffixes and prefixes, where and how we use them. 

Math

Religion

We are focusing on lesson 6.

We’ll begin exploring:

  • Lesson 6
  • The meaning of the “confirmation” and what it is, and why we go through that process.We will be creating a confirmation magazine cover stay tuned!
    We’ll also continue our Bible Study, reflecting on parables and stories to deepen our faith and understanding.(We are going to start Luke chapter 1.)

Reading

We have started reading a new novel “The little Prince” by Antoine De Saint Exupery. We will be reading and studying this novel for the next few weeks. Students have a reading packet that they will be working on throughout the week, keep in a lookout for that. 

Weekly Reminder:

Miss Pretzie’s students now have a reading log! This reading log is to keep track of your child’s reading progress. It is turned in every week to earn five points for reading 20 minutes everyday!

Science

We have entered consumer fair time! Make your child is working on their poster at home. It is due Thursday 1/22

Social Studies

We are continuing chapter 5. We are currently learning about the Louisiana purchase and the French and Indian war. They will have a quiz on these topics later in the week after i-ready winter assessments are over.

Up next, we will start the road to the American revolution.
