ELA (English Language Arts)
We are finishing up our informational writing unit. We are putting the finishing touches on our pieces of writing. Students will be assessed on what elements go into an informational writing piece, what the structure of an informational piece looks like.So excited to see what these amazing writers come up with.
Up next, we will move into our poetry unit. We will learn how to write and analyze poetry. We are still focusing on our suffixes and prefixes and where and how we use them. We will be taking our unit three phonics quiz next week.
Math

Religion
We are focusing on lesson 7. We have just finished lesson 6 and will be taking our assessment on lesson 6 later this week. The students have been working so hard on their confirmation magazine covers!
We’ll begin exploring:
- Lesson 7
- The gifts of the holy spirit, the process of the lent season. What is lent, why do we celebrate lent.
- We’ll also continue our Bible Study, reflecting on parables and stories to deepen our faith and understanding.(We are going to start Luke chapter 20.)
Reading
We have started reading a new novel Number The Stars by David Bruce. We will be reading and studying this novel for the next few weeks. Students have a reading packet that they will be working on throughout the week, keep in a lookout for that.
Weekly Reminder:
Miss Pretzie’s students now have a reading log! This reading log is to keep track of your child’s reading progress. It is turned in every week to earn five points for reading 20 minutes everyday!
Every Friday, students will take a quiz on their vocabulary words for that week. Quizzes can be corrected for half-credit recovery.
Science
We have started our food web unit. Students are learning about what animals consume, and how the food chain comes together. We are going to play our food chain game next week.
Social Studies
We are finishing chapter 8. We are currently learning about the Revolutionary War.What battles led up to the war, we had a test on chapter 8 this past week.
Up next, we will be starting chapter 9. Declaring independence.
