As we begin the new school year, our elementary classrooms are buzzing with excitement and learning! Here’s a glimpse of what our students have been up to as they review and build upon their knowledge from last year.
Kindergarten to 3rd Grade
Reviewing the ABC’s
Our youngest learners are revisiting the alphabet, ensuring they have a strong foundation in recognizing and pronouncing each letter. This fundamental skill supports their emerging reading and writing abilities.
Days of the Week and Months of the Year
Students in kindergarten through 3rd grade are also reviewing the days of the week and months of the year. This practice helps them understand time concepts and enhances their calendar skills.
4th and 5th Grade
Days, Months, and Counting in Spanish
In our 4th and 5th grade classrooms, students are not only revisiting the days of the week and months of the year, but they’re also enhancing their language skills by counting from 1 to 50 in Spanish. This exercise supports their bilingual education and aids in cognitive development.
Asking and Answering Important Questions
All our elementary students are learning to ask and answer essential questions such as:
- “What’s your name?”
- “What’s your mom/dad’s name?”
- “Where do you live?”
- “How old are you?”
These exercises are crucial for developing communication skills and building relationships with peers and teachers.
Celebrating Mexican Culture
Learning About Mexico’s Rich History
As a special treat, we took a break from our regular curriculum to delve into the fascinating history of Mexico. Our students explored Mexico’s rich cultural heritage, learning about its historical milestones and significant contributions to the world.
Celebrating Mexican Independence
In celebration of Mexican Independence, which is observed on September 15th and 16th, our students watched a historical festivity. This immersive experience allowed them to appreciate the significance of this national holiday and its importance to Mexican culture.
By integrating these diverse learning experiences, we aim to create an engaging and inclusive environment for our students to grow academically and culturally. Here’s to a fantastic start to the school year!
