JK Newsletter February 16, 2023

Another fun full week here in JK!

Thank you to those who made it to our Valentine’s Day Party.  Thanks also for the class donations to make our party a hit!

Thank you also for your support for those in Turkey and Syria. The prayer service put on by NJHS was heart felt and nice to pray as a school community.  During Religion we discussed how mother nature can bring snow storms that are FUN, and rain that helps flowers grow, but we also have some terrible storms that hurt many people, animals and buildings.  Your kids had a lot to say.

The NJHS used book exchange is going on next week as well! Bring in a gently used book and exchange it for another gently used book!

A few questions for your children:

  • Ask your child to sing  you the Valentine song ” There is a big red heart deep inside of me….”
  • Who is the next Meteorologist ?
  • Ask your child who their new table mates are?

Religion: Its hard to believe but Lent starts next Wednesday! We will be going to 9:30 mass for Ashes. in the next 40 days we will be touching on the Stations of the Cross in an age appropriate way. The stations are not only a basis for our faith, but also how we show love and compassion for others.

Literacy: We have begun begun a letter formation book, proper letter formation is the goal.  We also continue to our Jolly Phonics letter review and Phonemic awareness which is daily! Ask your child if you say “Zoo” and take off the “Z “and add a “M” what word does it make?

Math: Our number work will continue as we use manipulatives to show teen numbers. We will also continue with tally marks, patterns and graphing as well!

Science/ Social Studies: Science experiments and weather is our focus as we wait patiently for all!

We hope you all have a wonderful long weekend and we will see you all back next Tuesday!!
