JK Newsletter January 14, 2022

We hope everyone is staying healthy and optimistic this New Year!

Starting next Tuesday, the children will be attending 8am mass EVERY Tuesday morning.  I will send a reminder the day before. Please have your children to school by 7:50 when doors open so they can get settled before heading back out the door to mass.  If you happen to be late, please bring your children to the office:)

Some fun things to ask your child about:

  • We now have a daily  “mat caller”!  Ask your child who the lucky friend was and how they get picked?
  • Who are the prayers leaders, Line leaders, caboose and flag holders this week?
  • I broke out my beloved Shel Silverstein book “Where the sidewalk ends”.  Ask the your kids if they have heard any funny rhyming poems:)
  • What 3 Saints did you learn about this week?  We did a church visit to see St. Kateri. We also learned about  St. Stephen and St Elizabeth is next week.

Religion: Next week, we will continue talking about saints and continuing church visits and attending Tuesday 8am mass.

Literacy: We are reviewing our Jolly Phonics and nailing down the beginning and ending sounds. We are also working on isolating the middle sounds in our phonemic awareness activities.

Math: We are working with writing and identifying  numbers, grouping, and tallying.

Science/Social Studies: We are exploring snow and melting ice in hands-on activities.

Have a wonderful weekend!
