JK Newsletter October 8, 2021

We have been enjoying the fall weather, the fresh air does us all good! Even rainy days, we are still able to get walk around our school grounds and enjoy the fall changes. Please make sure your child has a coat with the changing weather.

A few talking points for you to ask your kids about from the week?

  • How was the school bus drill?
  • Can you sing me “5 little Pumpkins song”?
  • What sorts of  items are in the rice sensory bin?
  • Did your class fill the “Bucket of Kindness”  yet?

Religion: God is a very abstract concept for young children to grasp. Seeing God in little things throughout the day is important to point out.  “When you see good, you see God!” The children saw that yesterday when they saw their Bucket of Kindness filled to the top.  They did that and they couldn’t have been more proud!  I’m hopeful that with treating our classmates with love and respect is showing through at home too with our loved ones. This week on our church  visit we they will visit the Saint Statues on the side of the aisles in church. * Monday night at 7pm is a spiritual song/ prayer service in the church followed by bonfire behind the church in the back field. We hope to see you there!

Literacy: Jolly phonics this week will be the letters /d/ and /g/. We are having lots of Halloween fun with letters and games in centers as well!

Math: The children are doing great with patterns, graphing and tally marks each day! We are still learning how to form our numbers properly. We have a number poems that help us with that. You will be seeing that come home next week as some of their seat work.

Science/Social Studies: PUMPKINS! We will be doing lots of science activities with Pumpkins. We will be learning the life cycle and doing different science experiments with pumpkins as well! Please bring in a small pumpkin with your child’s name on the bottom for some math and science fun!

Looking for fun this weekend.. Hesston Steam Museum has a Halloween train ride through the woods. Highly recommend it for the family:)

*If you would like to receive a phone call about your child’s progress in JK, please email me a day, time, and number that is best to reach you.  These calls are just a quick check in to let you know things are going. This is also a good chance to ask  any questions too!

Have a wonderful weekend.
