JK Newsletter September 8, 2023

Fall fest is upon us and we are EXCITED!
We have been getting many sneak peeks at the rides with our walks around the campus. Ask your child who they had as a walking partner, who who they played with at free choice time!
The Social Emotional well being of our students has been a big focus. Learning how to share toys, take turns, include others are just a few of the components of forming friendships, and is a BIG part of our program!

Religion:  Today we sang Happy Birthday to our Blessed Mother Mary on her Birthday.  We then took the students to church to say a prayer and bless themselves upon entering and leaving the church!    Next week:  God gives us families to show His love for us! Thank you to those who sent in a picture.

Literacy: We learned the letters “S” and “A” this week. Ask your children to show you the hand motion for these letter sounds. Next week we will be learning the letter sounds for “T” and “I”.

In phonemic awareness the children have been taking apart compound words and putting them together by putting their hands behind their back and pulling one hand out for each word to build the whole word.  Ask them to show you:) They are also listening for the beginning of the word.  for example “BAT” child responds with /b/, the beginning sound. Try a few out with your children while driving in the car or going for a walk!

Math: Counting, sorting, and tally marks are all things we are continuing to work on next week. We are working on number formation as well!

A few reminders:

  • No school on Monday September 11th
  • Please bring a 4×6 family picture if you have not done so already:)

Have a wonderful weekend and Mrs. Jacobs and I look forward to seeing you and your families at Fall Fest this weekend!
