JUNIOR HIGH SCIENCE (6th/7th/8th) / RELIGION (7TH GRADE) 12/7/24

Our week in review.

Science…we are preparing for our school Science Fair and the Illinois Junior Academy of Science (IJAS) – Science Fair by reviewing the expectations of projects related to science investigations and the engineering design processes.  Students received a IJAS packet on Monday, and have been generating exceptional questions as they discuss, review, and refine their ideas, based on opportunities to research in class.  Additionally, this week, students explored understanding independent, dependent, and control variables through varied methods of instruction.  (Students received a handout to complete independently to re-enforce their understanding of variables.)

Religion…we marked the start of the Church’s Liturgical calendar with the season of Advent. Through the season of Advent, we remember Jesus coming in his birth, and we look forward to his second coming at the end of time.  As a class and school community we displayed our class Advent wreath, participated in a class prayer, attended and participated in a school-wide reconciliation, and indicated our intentions of hope by indicating them in writing.  (Students read from their textbook and received a handout regarding the Liturgical Calendar and Advent, they completed and submitted a handout related to these readings.  Students received their weekly Journal Entry questions and as always are expected to submit their Journals on Monday.)

God bless you and your families this Advent season and always,

Mrs. Davis
