Hi everyone! Another couple of weeks wrapped up, another newsletter. But before we begin, here are some important dates to keep in mind:
April 2nd: Holy Thursday prayer service at 9:30am and 2:00pm dismissal. No aftercare!
April 2nd-12th: Easter Break! School resumes on Monday, April 13th.
Now, what have we learned in the past couple of weeks? Let’s dig into it:
ELA: We are working on our Research Papers! I gave a topic list to the students, but let them choose their topics freely. We have everything from ghost ships to tsunamis to Tina Turner and more. They are working so hard on every step. We also just took our 100 *MORE* Vocabulary Words test, just like we did last semester. We will continue to have weekly Spelling Tests for the remainder of the year, along with more writing projects.
Science: I hope you enjoyed seeing our very colorful food web projects in the hallway during Parent Teacher Conferences. We have now begun our lesson on interaction of Earth’s spheres (hydrosphere, atmosphere, biosphere, and geosphere). At the end of the unit, we will have a small lab using recycled materials. Next up, ENERGY!
Math: After working so diligently on fractions, we have bid farewell to them and moved on to volume! Right now, we are focusing on finding the volume of right rectangular prisms. Soon we will work on finding the volume of composite shapes.
Religion: We are learning about the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. The students are very reverent when discussing such a heavy topic. Next week, we will focus on preparing for Easter. I also want to talk about how proud I am of their Stations of the Cross readings! They read so beautifully and respectfully.
Reading: We have just finished reading our latest novel, The Little Prince. Next week, we will review the book and take our final test. Our discussions in class on the novel have been so insightful and creative. I love how they have interpreted the book! Our next novel will be Hatchet.
Social Studies: Head on over to Miss Pretzie’s page to see what they’ve been learning in Social Studies!
Have a wonderful Easter Break!
