Good afternoon 6th grade families!
We have been having a great time in 6th grade! Our field trip to Feed my Starving Children last Thursday was a great success and the students had a blast volunteering. We were also able to create a craft with our 3rd grade buddies this week that the students really enjoyed. We will begin reading two different books for Battle of the Books! We will be reading Where the Red Fern Grows and Across Five Aprils. Once we are done reading these books, students will battle answering questions about the books. This will take place in December.
ELA- We have been working on mastering subject and verbs in sentences. We have also completed our first 50 vocabulary words. Students will be tested on all 50 words at the end of next week.
Literature- We have finished reading Wonder! This has been a really great book that the students have enjoyed reading. We are working on a project on characterization currently. I hope to watch the movie Wonder some time next week.
Math- We have moved on to working with decimals! Students have been working on adding, subtracting, and multiplying decimals. We are currently working on dividing decimals.
Social Studies- This week the students have been working hard on their amendment projects. They each chose an amendment from the Bill of Rights and had to create a PowerPoint explaining their amendment. We have started presenting these projects and will continue to do so.
I-Ready- Students have been working hard on I-Ready. We complete 30 mins everyday. Students need to have TWO lessons completed from Math and TWO lessons completed from Reading each week.
