6th Grade News – 12/13/2024

Good afternoon 6th grade families!

I can not believe we are already in December! It’s almost time for winter break!  The students have really been working hard this past week practicing and performing for the Christmas program!  They really did such a great job!  We also had some 6th graders participate in the Our Lady Of Guadalupe Mass skit.  I was blown away by their performance!  They truly did a great job.

Literature- We are reading and discussing Across Five Aprils. Students have been mostly reading this book at home and discussing in class.  Once we have read both books, we will participate in Battle of the Books next week on December 19th at our school.

Math-  We just finished working on ratio! The students took their test yesterday!  Once we are all finished, we will move on to practicing geometry.  The students are ready to jump in!

Social Studies-  We are finishing up our lessons on American Government.  Students have presented all their Supreme Court presentations.  It has been very interesting listening to all their research.  Next up we will dive into Ancient Egypt.  The students are very excited about this subject!

ELA-  We have been working on our opinion essay.  The students are writing their essay on the prompt “Can money buy happiness?” .  The students chose this prompt and we have a pretty split class.  The students plan to debate their opinions.  The students are also working on a Historical Fiction book report.  They are to create croc charms to demonstrate different aspects of the book!  This is due Dec. 20th.

I-Ready- The 6th graders have been working hard on filling in our I-Ready Christmas tree. Any student who receives an 80% or higher is able to sign the tree.  Once completed we will have a whole class reward or their choosing.  We have our next diagnostic coming soon!  We will continue practicing and preparing for our diagnostic.
