Pre-K 3/4 December 5th Newsletter

Happy Friday Families!
Here is what we did in Pre-K 3/4 this week!

Looking back…

  • We focused on learning about Advent!
  • We learned about the sound z and letter w, as well as writing numbers 1-5.
  • We learned that Advent is a time of waiting for Jesus’ birth. We also learned all about the Advent wreath and the different colored candles.
  • We continued to verbally blend and segment 2 syllable words. (Blending rain-ing turns into raining. Segmenting raining turns into rain-ing.)

MARK YOUR CALENDAR…

  • Wednesday, December 10th – St. Cletus Santa Workshop (we will go as a class, flyers were sent home with more information).
  • Wednesday, December 17th – Pre-K Christmas Program, 9:30AM in the Parish Center
  • Friday, December 19th – 2PM Dismissal (No Aftercare)
  • Monday, December 22nd- Monday, January 5th – No School: Christmas Break

REMINDERS…

  • Please check your child’s folder daily, especially Wednesdays.
  • Our Preschool Christmas Program will take place on December 17th at 9:30 am in the Parish Center!
  • We are collecting $1-$5 to purchase grocery gift cards for the giving tree through Thursday, December 11th.
  • Our class with shop the St. Cletus Santa Workshop on Wednesday, December 10th.

Let’s Give Them Something to Talk About…
Below are some suggestions to engage your child in a conversation about what they did at school!

  • How many candles are on the advent wreath and what color are they? (4 candles, 3 are purple, 1 is pink)
  • What did you use to decorate your Christmas Tree? (pom poms)
  • What sound does z make? What sound does w make? (z says /z/ and w says /w/)
  • Practice writing numbers 1-5.
  • Continue to practice spelling and tracing/writing your child’s first name.

Have a great weekend!
