Happy Friday Families!
Here is what we did in Pre-K 3/4 this week!
Looking back…
- We focused on learning about pumpkins and our names!
- We learned about the letters G and O, as well as numbers 1-10.
- We learned that we use our voices to talk and our words matter. We also learned that God talks to us. We have also continued to practice the sign of the cross!
- We began to verbally blend and segment 2 syllable words. (Blending rain-ing turns into raining. Segmenting raining turns into rain-ing.)
MARK YOUR CALENDAR…
Sunday, October 26th – Family Mass at 10:30am
Friday, October 31st – Halloween Party and Trunk-or-Treat at 1:45pm
REMINDERS…
- Please check your child’s folder daily, especially Wednesdays.
- If you would like to volunteer throughout the year, please get your VIRTUS training completed. All of our volunteers MUST be VIRTUS trained.
- For Halloween please make sure your child has something underneath their costume, in case they need help going to the bathroom. It would also be helpful to allow your child to take their costume off is they get hot or uncomfortable throughout the day. Children will come to school in their costumes.
- If you are sending your child with Halloween Treats to share with friends they MUST be nut free. All treats will be sent home and your child will be instructed to ask you before they eat anything.
Let’s Give Them Something to Talk About…
Below are some suggestions to engage your child in a conversation about what they did at school!
- What are the different parts of a pumpkin? (skin, pulp, seeds, stem, leaf)
- What sound does g make? What sound does o make? (g says /g/ and o says /o/)
- What do we use our voice for? (talking, singing, shouting, whispering, laughing, praying, saying nice things to others.) Practice the sign of the cross at home.
- Practice identifying and putting the numbers 1-10 in order.
- Continue to practice putting the letters of their name in order at home. If your child has mastered this begin to practice forming the letters in their name correctly.
- What is something kind you said to someone this week?
Have a great weekend!
