Happy Friday Families!
Looking back…
I would like to thank all of the parents for meeting with me for Parent-Teacher Conferences. I really enjoyed talking with everyone. Thanks for all of your support and kind words. It was really a rewarding way to kick off the Thanksgiving Holiday!
This week we began exploring Advent, a special time of waiting and preparing our hearts for Christmas. We talked about how Advent helps us get ready for Jesus’ birthday and how each candle on the Advent wreath reminds us of hope, love, joy, and peace.
To celebrate our first week of Advent, we worked on several meaningful hands-on activities:
*Purple Candle Sun Catchers
The children created beautiful sun catchers using purple tissue paper in the shape of the first Advent candle. We discussed why the candle is purple and what hope means!
*Advent-Themed Coloring
We added Advent pages to our coloring center, giving the children opportunities to explore the symbols of Advent—candles, wreaths, stars, and more.
*Rip-and-Glue Advent Wreaths
Using lots of fine motor strength, the children ripped green, pink and purple construction paper into small pieces to create their own Advent wreaths. They worked carefully to glue the pieces in place and add their candles.
We had such a joyful week learning about Advent and preparing our classroom—and our hearts—for the Christmas season. We’re excited to continue the journey together!
