Pre-K 3 Newsletter March 12

Happy Thursday Families!

We had a Seuss-tastic week in our classroom as we celebrated Dr. Seuss and learned all about the Letter U! Our students had so much fun exploring, creating, and learning through play.

In our math and matching activity, students went fishing using magnetic fishing poles and colorful fish. After catching a fish, they matched it to the correct colored paper, practicing their color recognition and sorting skills!

Our book center turned into a cozy reading nook where students read Dr. Seuss books to stuffed animals. It was so fun to see them practicing their storytelling and nurturing their love of books!

We created Dr. Seuss-inspired picture using bingo daubers. They had to carefully follow directions to make circles red and squares blue, practicing listening skills and shape recognition.

During centers, we also:

  • Built Whoville using bristle blocks and lots of imagination.

  • Colored Dr. Seuss-themed coloring pages.

  • Practiced letter recognition by finding the Letter U and covering it with magnetic bingo chips, then whisking them away with magnetic wands. The magnets were a big hit!

In P.E., we had fun playing with the parachute! Since John’s birthday is the closest coming up, he got to enjoy a special turn spinning in the middle while everyone else made the parachute wave around him.

Let’s Give Them Something to Talk About…
Below are some suggestions to engage your child in a conversation about what they did at school!
  • How did you make your Dr. Seuss picture with the bingo daubers? What colors and shapes did you use? (We used red/blue and looked for circles and squares!)

  • What did you do at the letter carpet this week during centers? (Went fishing!)

  • What did you do in P.E. this week? (played with the parachute!)

As Dr. Seuss would say…. you’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child! 📚
Have an amazing weekend,
