Preschool 3-October 6, 2023

October is here!  Time is flying by and we welcomed our new month with great excitement.  Our Halloween calendar card was the very best part of our morning meeting on Monday.  This week we continued to learn about the new season and the weather changes that are happening.  It was fun to read about scarecrows and create a shapely scarecrow with our Buddies.  Our math centers this week introduced our large ten frame and dice.  We counted Fall fun foam leaves and pumpkins after rolling a die and identifying numbers 0-5.  Those are the numbers we have been focusing on over the past few weeks.  We continue to also identify and build with 2D shapes each day.  Cute caterpillars are decorating our alphabet learning line and Jolly Phonics has also begun.  Aa, Bb, and Cc songs have been sung all week long!  Ask your child if they can sing these songs at home:)  This week we had not one, but TWO, awesome assemblies.  Monday, we attended a great assembly, Land of Smiles, which taught us how to take care of our teeth.  All kids received a goody bag with toothbrushes and other dental hygiene items.  Friday, we had the pleasure of meeting Ellie the Elephant.  Ellie is a life-size mechanical elephant that teaches about having empathy for all creatures, large and small!  What a great time we had at the second assembly of the week.

Reminders…
Please continue to dress for the weather each day as cooler temperatures are on the way.  Also, children MUST wear gym shoes every day for gym/outdoor recess for safety reasons.  This is especially important now that we play in the playground each day.
