Second-2-None: Week of 10/31

We are learning so much while preparing for Reconciliation. Our discussions have included talking about a special gift from God called free will. We’ve had a great discussion about what is a sin and how that’s different than an accident. We’ve also talked about the difference between mortal and venial sins. We’ll be preparing for the sacrament all the way through the actual day.

In Grammar, we introduced article adjectives. So now the class can classify the subject noun, verb, adverbs, adjectives, and article adjectives. We continue our word study of “moist” and sing our jingles often to help us remember parts of speech. We continue to learn reading and writing words with long vowels in Phonics. The class read a fun story entitled Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday. We talked about money responsibility, and what we thought about Alexander’s decisions. We learned what cause & effect are, using the story to help practice identifying both. We also practiced sequencing the story.

The class will finish Chapter 3 of Math next week, with the test on Thursday. It will cover basic addition and subtraction. When we move on to math, we will be in double-digit addition.

We will wrap up the unit in Social Studies next week and have the test either Friday or the early the following week. Look for study sheets and the textbook to come home so that your child can study prior to the test.

Upcoming Events - WW-P 4-5 Schools

  • Please remind your child to bring his/her LIBRARY books on WEDNESDAY! I know that it is hard to remember with so many things on our mind, but I’d love to have them check out new books every week.
  • Picture Retake Day is on Wednesday, November 9. You do need to return the photos you have received, if any. Please remember that Room 112 (McCartney) has PE that day. So, they should have gym shoes on and comfortable clothes for PE. Your child may also bring in the gym uniform in order to change.
  • Tonight is the St. Cletus Sip n’ Shop from 6 pm – 9:30 pm in the Parish Center. Come out and start your Christmas shopping early.
