Second-2-None: Week of 3/13

During Religion this week, we really focused on the Introductory Rites of the Mass. We learned what happens during this time. For the next couple of weeks, we will focus much more closely on the first main part of Mass, the Liturgy of the Word.

We continue to classify sentences in Shurley English, while focusing on nouns. We will identify each noun as singular/plural and common/proper. We will also determine the job of the noun. In Phonics, we have moved on to contractions and will next learn how to correctly write nouns in the plural form. This week, we had begun to write uppercase cursive letters. Once they know the capital letter for their name, they may write it in cursive on papers. Since they know all the lowercase letters, we will be having the class complete some classwork in cursive, beginning with Phonics. This usually takes longer than when they print. However, it is great practice.

Next week, we will continue to work on fractions in Math. We will finish the chapter next week and have the test on Friday, March 24. That test will cover geometry and fractions.

We continue to learn about goods and services during Social Studies. We had a great discussion about what tax is, as well as how goods get to the factory and eventually store. We learned about a t-shirt in particular, seeing how cotton is picked, eventually ending at a store in the shape of a t-shirt.
