We had a spectacular Fall Fest at Saint Cletus, it was so nice to see everyone enjoying family and fun. We are truly blessed with an amazing community of families and students, educators, administrators, former teachers, and custodians, (who are the backbone of these facilities!) Thank you to all who volunteered, donated, or took part in the entertainment and talent show! It was so nice to see all of my students and parents at the Fall Fest.
I want to remind parents who would like to join us this year on our trip to a play, and our field trip later in the year, please make sure to be VIRTUS trained and updated for this year in order to be a chaperone!
We love going to Mass together as a class, each week we all receive a blessing from the priest before our first communions. In Religion class we have been learning about Jesus being both human and Divine, the Holy Trinity, and about the Resurrections, as well as lots of Bible readings this year. We love learning about Jesus, and every day we are invited to be His disciples and follow Him.
We have been working on using mental strategies in math, counting by tens, making pairs, and now beginning chapter 2 lesson 1, learning odds and evens and making equations this week.
We have been making strides in our FUNdations phonics curriculum. We practice every day the sounds that letters make. Lask week we worked on /ck/ and /k/ as well as vowels and consonants, and this week we are beginning to work on welded words (am, all, ong, onk, ink, etc) We practice our spelling words from FUNdations and have a (not so) pop spelling quiz on Fridays.
One of our favorite subjects in class so far, is Social Studies. We are working on learning how to use a map, locating North, East, South and West. Looking at a globe and knowing there are 7 continents and 5 oceans. We also have a wonderful Science program that has intersected with learning from other subjects like reading and social studies! Our science is so much fun as we get to interact with the Smartboard to learn about the properties of matter and how objects can be put together to build new things, and we are able to be creative in second grade and have fun!
Have a great week and we are so excited to learn at Saint Cletus.
Every day is a great day to be a Cardinal!
