Hello Everyone,

Thursday May 16th:  ALL library books are due back.  I will try to send a list of books that students have out by Wednesday.

Friday May 17th: Purple Dress Down Day for a one dollar donation.  These donations go to the Violet Foundation.

This week the students will be taking the third iReady Diagnostic of the year.  We will be taking the Math Portion of the test on Monday and Tuesday.  Reading will be taken on Wednesday and Thursday.  Please be sure that your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats breakfast every morning.  Please also remind your child to concentrate as they are taking these tests.

The students will be reciting the May Prayer Hail Holy Queen this Wednesday May 15th.  Poems will be presented next Wednesday, May 22nd.

Religion:  This week the students will complete Chapter 12 about vocations in the Church.

Reading / Science:  The students will be reading an informational text about the Cicada Invasion that is coming our way.  Students will be finding out about the impact these bugs will have on our area.  Students will be defining unfamiliar words and use context clues to answer comprehension questions.

Phonics:    This week we begin Unit Seven in our Phonics books.  Students will review what Synonyms, antonyms, and homonyms are.

Spelling: This week’s words have the students reviewing how to keep the vowel sound short in a word short when they add either -ing or -ed to the base word.

Math: Students will be learning that a fraction names how many parts are in a group.  Students will also see how to use  the strategy to draw a diagram to solve fraction problems.
