Third Grade Prayer Service is Tuesday November 23rd at 9:30. Please put the date on your calendars so that you are able to join us if your schedule allows. We will also be collecting NON Perishable food items to donate to our food pantry.

Religion: This week we will be practicing for our November 23rd all School Prayer Service. Please mark your calendars for the 23rd at 9:30 so that you are able to attend. As a class we will talk about the fact that Jesus helps us show kindness to others. We will also talk about the ways in which we have grown and changed in the last year.
Reading: We will continue to work with the story “Thunder Cakes” this week. We will work with sequential words and talk about the ways the main character changes during the story.
Spelling: Our words this week have the long o spelled ow, oa and o.
Phonics: The students will read and practice directions as we review the rules for consonant blends. We will also review the sounds that Y makes when acting as a vowel.
Math: The students will learn and put into practice using number lines to solve multiplication problems. They will also work through the strategy of using a diagram to solve story problems.
Social Studies: The students have been learning about Communities around our country. This week we will read about the community of Astoria, Oregon and what the word location means. We will learn about the history, location and geography of Astoria Oregon. As we are working through the first chapter of our Social Studies Curriculum, the students are using their books to answer questions about the material we are covering each day. The work they are doing is assigned on Monday and due on Friday. ALL WORK WILL BE COMPLETED in class.
Writing: We are working on persuasive stories this month. The students are writing stories from a turkey’s point of view trying to convince us to eat a different main course for Thanksgiving dinner. Writing home work will be sent home on Tuesday and Thursday nights instead of spelling. Please work with your child to correct spelling and punctuation on their stories.

Tuesday November 9th: 8:00 am Mass today. PLEASE be sure to be at school at 7;45 so that we can be in Church on time.
Friday November 12th: Please send any library books back to school so that your child can check out new books today. FSA Sip and Shop from 6 – 9. I will have a table at the event where I will be selling some of my baked good (cookies, brownies, cake, and bars). Please stop by and say hello.
Tuesday November 23rd: 9:30 Prayer Service. Please plan to join us if you are able to. Parent teacher conferences will be virtual this trimester. If you would like to schedule your conference the week before or after please let me know. I am very happy to work with your schedule.
