Third Grade News and Up Coming Events

Religion:  The class will work on Holy Week activities.  Tuesday the school will attend 8:00am Mass.  Thursday we will attend the Washing of the Feet Prayer Service presented by the First Grade on at 9:30 and Stations of the Cross at 2:30.  Please be sure to join us for one or both if your schedules allow.  

Reading:  This week the students will continue reading and answering questions from the story “City Homes” by Nicola Barber.  

Phonics:  The class will work with words that have vowel digraphs, pairs and diphthongs.

Spelling:  There will not be a spelling test this week but we will review words from past units.  The students will create and solve word searches.  They will enhance their ability to put words in ABC order aa well as many other activities focused around previous spelling words.   NO SPELLING TEST THIS WEEK!!

Math:  Students will practice their addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills this week as they solve problems to reveal hidden pictures.  NO SIMPLE SOLUTIONS THIS WEEK!!!

Social Studies: This week the students will learn about and practice using both Cardinal (North, South, East and West) and Intermediate (North East, North West, South East and South West) directions to find places on a map and in out classroom.

Monday April 11th:  Biography Book Reports are due today.  We will listen to 5 reports each day.  The students will go to the book fair at 2:00.  The book fair will be open from 9:00 to 12:00 and then from 1:00 to 4:00.

Tuesday April 12th:  8:00am Mass ~ Please be on time so that we can be in our seats before Mass begins.  The book fair will be open from 9:00 to 12:00 and then from 1:00 to 4:00.

Wednesday April 13th:  The book fair will be open from 9:00 to 12:00 and then from 1:00 to 4:00.

Thursday April 14th:  Washing of the Feet Prayer Service at 9:30.  Stations of the Cross at 2:30.  Please join us if y9our schedule allows.  

Friday April 15th:  NO SCHOOL IN OBSERVANCE OF GOOD FRIDAY.  Enjoy the Easter Weekend and have a wonderful restful spring break.  If you are traveling please be safe and have a fantastic time.  If you take pictures please send them in an email to me and I will show them to the class when we return.

My name is Lisa Gearen. I started teaching at St. Cletus in 2003. I taught first grade for 14 years and now teach 3rd. I have a bachelors degree in Communication and a Masters in Elementary Education. I received both degrees from Concordia University.
