Update: 10/18

Hello Cardinal Families!

Our first field trip to “Feed my Starving Children” was a big success! Students worked together packing rice into bags and boxes, and we packed over 100 as a group! This week in 7th grade LA, we have been working on our personal narratives, based on a single story from students’ lives. The final draft will be due Monday, 10/21. Please check with your child to hear their story, you might even remember the story, yourself! In social studies, we are learning about the different political parties, and their roles in government. In time for election season, we will learn of the popular and electoral voting system in the United States.

In 7th and 8th grade Lit, we are about to begin Battle of the Books, which is schoolwide across St. Cletus. 7th grade will read “Holes” by Louis Sachar this month, and Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” the following month up to Christmas break. In 8th grade, we will be reading Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None.” The following book is to be determined.

We are almost a quarter of the way through the school year, and the official trimester ends on November 19th. Please keep checking your child’s grades in Powerschool, and reach out over any concerns.

Thanks, and have a great weekend!
