Hello Cardinal Families!
We are finally through my least favorite 2 months of the year, hopefully facing some good weather coming up. I would also like to congratulate the cast of Frozen Jr. for such an awesome show! I can see how hard the students, staff, and volunteers have been working the past several months to have made this show happen.
In 7th grade, we just completed a Black History Month research presentation, learning some cool facts about some significant historical figures, and we have start learning of the early articles of the constitution. In LA/Lit, we have started the novel “My Brother Sam is Dead,” which lines up with the Revolutionary War as a setting.
In 8th Grade LA/Lit, we are reading the Hunger Games (and I’m excited for the new book to come out on March 18th!), and analyzing the characters and the society in which they must survive.
Next week begins “Read Across America” month. March 6th and 7th will be dress-down days (3/6 – Wear stripes and favorite hat) (3/7 – Wear your favorite PJs). We will have a reading challenge with a month-long reading log. Students should turn in completed book logs on Monday, March 24th to be entered into a raffle to win Scholastic Dollars for the book fair. The end of the month will be the book fair on 3/25-3/28.
One last note: Please make sure your child is charging their chromebooks at night! I have many students starting out the day telling me they have to charge their computers, and I do have to remind them often to check to make sure it is charging properly.
Thanks, and have a great weekend and March!
