Kindergarten Newsletter, August 22

Welcome to kindergarten!  This is where you’ll always find the kindergarten newsletters: On the SC website–>class pages–>kindergarten–>news

Each week, I will give you important school event reminders, let you know what’s due and also let you know what’s happening in the classroom and how you can support your child at home. Use the newsletter to ask your child questions about his/her day!

What’s Due:

  • If you haven’t turn in the “what’s the buzz on your child” page, please turn that in by Monday.
  • St. Cletus fall fest is just around the corner!  Be sure to purchase a “megapass” for your child from the school office (ktownsend@stcletusparish.com) . Even if carnivals aren’t your favorite thing, stopping by the St. Cletus fall fest is a MUST! 🙂  The kids absolutely love it. It’s always a favorite memory for students. The megapass is definitely worth it! It’s such a fun weekend!
  • Mum orders: help support our 8th graders and their special events by ordering mums (they’re beautiful, from Hinsdale Nursery): please refer to the school news email:
  • Milk orders: place your orders now!
  • Hot lunch orders*: Order now!

*please make sure your child eats what you order! For example, if you order “mac and cheese” but it’s not Kraft mac and cheese, will your child eat it?  I’ve seen lots of wasted hot lunch in the past, so just be sure you know your child will eat what you order! The kids do love getting lunch, so give it a try if you can! 🙂

Upcoming Events/Mark your calendars:

  • Friday, August 29th: Mass of the Holy Spirit, 9:30: feel free to join us if your schedule allows!

This Week:

We were all about routines, rules and how to show kindness in kindergarten this week.  On Thursday, I introduced our “God’s superstars” stickers.  Each time a child is caught doing God’s work, sharing kindness, a sticker is given to that child. If your child comes home with a sticker, ask your child what he/she did to earn it! This is a great way for your child to see how you value kindness.

Next Week:

Focus on rules, routines and kindness will continue but we will also start getting a bit more into academics!  Stay tuned for more detailed information next week about what we’re learning.
