We had a great first week of school! We are still getting used to our classroom routine and learning our daily songs and prayers. We also met our 6th-Grade buddies and attended the 9:30 all school Mass of the Holy Spirit!
Every week we have a new set of classroom jobs that your children get to do for a whole week. Everyone will get a turn, and when your child gets his/her turn, he/she is so PROUD!
A few questions for your kids:
Who was the line leader his week?
Who was the Prayer leader this week?
Who was the flag Holder?
Who was the Caboose?
Religion: This week we talked all about how God Loves us and how special our names are to each one of us! The children have been learning many prayers. They will be bring home a sheet today with the 3 Prayers we say each day!
Literacy: We read many fun back to schoolbooks this week. Next week we will be continuing the “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom”, book with many class activities to reinforce letter recognition. We will also start our Jolly Phonics program, and the letter sounds for the letter “s” and the Phonemic awareness program too.
Math: We will continue to practice number recognition and number formation through poems at calendar time.
Social Studies: We have been very busy learning about our social skills in the classroom. Please ask your child if they got a chance to put a warm and fuzzy in our classroom bucket? Catching them being kind and helpful gives them a chance to fill our classroom bucket of positive behaviors!
A few reminders:
– Please have your child bring a 4×6 family picture to class for our “JK Family” bulletin board. If you have not had a chance to do so!
– No school Monday, September 1 for Labor Day!
– There is a 2 pm dismissal on Friday September 5th as we prepare for the St. Cletus Fall Fest.
Have a great weekend,
The JK Team
