Bienvenidos a Kindergarten DLI!

Dear Families,

We had a wonderful first full week of school! The students did a fantastic job continuing to practice our routines and procedures, which also included participating in several safety drills. We are so proud of their hard work and enthusiasm as they adjust to kindergarten life.

This week we also had some exciting milestones:

-We attended our first school Mass as a class, accompanied by our 8th grade buddies.

-Students successfully logged in and began the I-Ready diagnostic, which we will continue to work on next week.

-We discussed and practiced the expectations of DLI Kindergarten, revisiting what was learned in DLI PK4 and over summer break.

-We began our phonics work with Estrellita, which we will continue building on as the year progresses.

-We started our introduction to vowels in Spanish, beginning with the letter Aa.

-We practiced identifying words that begin with A.  We Learned to recognize the difference between letra mayúscula y minúscula (uppercase and lowercase letters).

-We also introduced some new call-backs in class! Students are practicing catching a “burbuja” (bubble) when Ms. Sonia or Mrs. Dorgan need full attention.

Your child also has tarea (homework). Please ask them to explain what their homework is and see if they can show it to you independently!

In math, we focused on:

-Recognizing and creating patterns

-Practicing the sequence of numbers

-Identifying and naming shapes

Looking ahead:

Next week, in Religion, we will begin our unit on “Dios es Nuestro Padre” (God is Our Father)—learning about what He has given us and what we are thankful for.
