Hi there families!,
First grade has been eventful and very busy!!!
Math: Math workbooks have been sent home. Each day when homework is assigned, it will be coming from that Into Math book! The next day, I will be checking their work! Please ensure that your child is completing their work:) There is no math homework for this weekend, but starting next week, math tests will be given more and more.
Wilson: We have been hard at work with our Wilson program. We have been cruising through Unit 3. Please ensure that you are going through the sounds and letters with your child! We will become Week 2 of Unit 3 next week.
Spelling: These tests will be given every Friday. New lists will be sent home each week. We did do our second test today because it has been these words that we have done through our Wilson program!
I sent home the lists today with your child! This coming week’s words are Chill, Lash, Puff, Fall, and Lock. Please practice saying and spelling the words. Focusing on uppercase and lowercase letters! These week’s sentences will be:
They will toss the ball to me.
Your pack is a mess!
Social Studies: We have been talking about roles in the community and jobs in the government! This week, we really focused on Presidents, and how one day, you could be President, too!
Science: We have been talking about animals and adaptations through Generation Science, which is our Science Program! We also started our discussion and lessons about communication with sounds in the world!
Reading: We have been reading different types of books talking through emotions and what happens through the book in our own words! We also have been talking about informational texts versus fictional! We are very grateful to have Storytime with our volunteering librarian (Mrs. Flood) on Thursday’s! This Week, we were able to read the story, “How to Catch a Monster!”
Mystery Guest Readers will be starting asap along with Star Student of the week. With the craziness of Halloween, I will be sending that information out. If you are interested, please just let me know!
**Red Ribbon Week**
Monday: Wear Pink and bring in $1 as we work towards solving this disease!
Tuesday: Crazy Sock Day! Bring in a canned/boxed food item! (Examples of the boxed/canned food: Chili, cereal, soup, or flavored Rice packets!)
