Dear Families,
We’ve had a wonderful and busy couple of weeks in Pre-K! Here’s a look at what we’ve been working on in the classroom:
Literacy & Phonics
We have been focusing on the letters Ff and Gg, along with their sounds. Students continue practicing writing their names and strengthening their phonics skills each day. We also use a fun weekly song to help us remember the letter of the week and its sound—this has quickly become one of our favorite routines!
In Heggerty, our songs of the week were “La araña pequeñita” and “La Vaca Lola.” We couldn’t stop singing La Vaca Lola! The children absolutely loved it.
Religion
We are currently in Week 2 of learning the prayer “Ángel de la Guarda.” Students are doing such a wonderful job memorizing it. We expect to spend about 2–3 more weeks practicing this prayer before moving on to the next one.
Christmas Program
We have also started practicing for our Christmas Program, and we are so excited for you to see everything the children have been learning. They are working very hard and can’t wait to share it with you.
How You Can Help at Home
Supporting your child with fine motor skills at home—such as cutting, coloring, or tracing—makes a big difference in the classroom. These activities help strengthen hand muscles and improve writing readiness.
Classroom Moments
We were lucky to enjoy our very first snow day, followed by some surprisingly warm weather! This gave us great opportunities during calendar time to talk about “el clima” and compare different types of weather.
