Dear Families,
December is here, and our classroom is filled with excitement, joy, and meaningful learning as we prepare for Christmas and the end of the year. Thank you for your continued support and partnership—it truly makes a difference in all that we do!
Advent Season – Preparing Our Hearts
December also marks the beginning of the Advent season, a special time as we prepare our hearts for the arrival of Baby Jesus. In class, students created their Advent wreaths and learned what each part represents.
As part of our focus on the “reason for the season,” we have taken time to reflect on how we can show kindness—to others, to our families and friends, and to ourselves. These conversations have been thoughtful, meaningful, and a beautiful reminder of the values we strive to live each day.
Cereal Drive Success – THANK YOU!
A HUGE thank you to everyone who supported our DLI Kindergarten Cereal Drive initiative! Together, we collected over 700 boxes of cereal, which were donated to our very own St. Cletus Food Pantry.
We are especially proud to share that DLI Kindergarten took home FIRST PLACE by collecting 143 boxes as a class! We are definitely a competitive bunch, and the students were so proud to contribute to such an important cause while giving back to our community.
Literacy & Writing Update
We continue to grow as writers by practicing structured sentences, focusing on:
- Using an uppercase letter at the beginning
- Adding a period at the end
- Writing clear and complete thoughts
The students are also really enjoying learning how to tell the difference between informational (nonfiction) books and fiction stories. They love discussing what makes each type of book special!
In addition, students are becoming stronger spellers by paying close attention to letter sounds. In Spanish, we are learning that some letters—like C and G—can make more than one sound, and the students are doing a wonderful job applying this knowledge in their reading and writing.
Christmas Program Reminder
Please remember to mark your calendars for our Kindergarten Christmas Mass and Song Performance:
Friday, December 19
Mass begins at 9:30 a.m.
Christmas song performance will follow, ending close to 11:00 a.m.
Kindergarten students will partner with their 8th-grade buddies to help lead parts of the Mass. Afterward, our kindergartners will stand at the altar and share their Christmas songs with you.
Please note: This is a 2:00 p.m. early dismissal day.
Thank You
As we move through this Advent season and prepare for Christmas, thank you for your generosity, involvement, and continued support. It has been such a joy to watch your children grow academically, socially, and spiritually.
Wishing you and your family a blessed and joyful Advent and Christmas season!
