We will be doing the second iReady Diagnostic Thursday and Friday of this week. The students will start with the READING part first. Please be sure to encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep and eat a GREAT breakfast before coming to school. We will be starting testing at 8:30 both mornings. P! L! E! A! S! E! be sure to have your child to school on time!!! We will continue the iReady Diagnoistic on the 20th and 21st as well

Monthly Project Due Dates
New Monthly Project: SUPER simple I promise. Each month the students will be asked to bring in their (School appropriate) picture to display on our class room family board. The January picture should be one of them with their favorite Christmas present.
January Book Report: Biography. Students should think about a person (sports, actor, etc . . .) that they would like to learn more about and find a chapter book to read. A FANTASTIC series to look at is “WHO WAS . . .”
January Poems: Poems will be presented on the January 20th.
January Prayer: Prayers will be recited on Friday 16th.

Religion: This week the class will learn about the original Apostles that Jesus chose and those that are their successor in today’s Catholic Church. We will also begin to learn about the Four Marks of the Church. The first two marks we will learn about are: One ~ The Church is ONE community called together by Christ. HOLY ~ God is ALL good and HOLY.
Math: We completed two modules 4 and 5 about multiplication and are now moving on to learn about division. We begin our 6th module learning how to: Describe the whole group and the equal groups. The students will also learn how to use arrays to solve division word problems.
Science: We will continue learning about the differences between Chemical and Physical changes.
Reading: The class will be reading two short passages this week as they continue to work on comprehension and vocabulary skills. Our stories this week are: “The Terror on Green Street”, this is a story of a boy over coming his fear of a large barking dog with the help of a friend. The second story is “Grandma’s Secret” a story of a granddaughter learning that when her grandma was younger she had dreams of being a singer. Unfinished class work will be sent home to be completed and due back by Friday.
Phonics: We have been working with the r-controlled vowels: ar, er, ir, or and ur. The students will be spending time review these skills this week as we review for the end of Unit 3 quiz next week.
Spelling: Our words this week contain both consonant bends and digraphs.
