Hello DLI Families,
This week we learned about the letter Rr and the sound it makes by itself and when combined with las vocales. Students practiced listening for the sound, saying it, and identifying it in different words.
During our morning check-in, we also practiced la letra R and its sound. We discovered that some of our friends — Rosie, Ruby, and Rudy — all have the letter R in their names, which made our learning even more exciting and personal!
Our ZooPhonics personaje of the week was Rosa Rana. Students enjoyed learning about her while connecting her name and sound to our letter of the week.
During Heggerty time, we continued practicing our listening skills to build words by connecting sílabas. We also practiced identifying and generating words that rhyme with a given word. The students are doing a wonderful job strengthening their phonemic awareness skills!
For our craft of the week, we began using el color verde to color Rosa Rana. Our buddies helped us cut and put our projects together. We always have so much fun working and learning with our buddies!
In addition we talked about our dental hygiene and thanks to Colgate we were able to provide each student with their own toothbrush and a sample of toothpaste. They were so excited to have received this treat and they now have their own dental chart to hopefully motivate our friends to brush their teeth twice a day.
Also, for families who enjoy dance and movement, one of our favorite dance movement influencers, DJ Ralphi, is coming to Chicago! If anyone is interested, it may be a fun event to check out.
Congrats to our PBIS winners this week: Micah and Ruby !!
Thank you for your continued support at home.
