Hi there my wonderful first-grade families! 🙂
Math: Each morning, the students work through their Simple Solutions workbooks. We have been working hard throughout our module workbooks, and have been learning more and more about math. We will be finishing Module 11 this upcoming week before Spring Break!
****Please ensure your child is doing their homework each day as it has been more practice for what we have been working on, and it has been helping them with their OWN learning!
Wilson: We have been hard at work with our Wilson program. have moved onto Unit 9! We have been talking about consonant blends and digraph blends! We have been building on that knowledge and learning about our base words and then how we can make them plural! We have started the lessons about closed syllables. We have learned how to mark them and what to look for to determine if it is a closed syllable or not. We have been building our knowledge about nouns and verbs. 🙂 We also have been talking about past, present, and future tenses.
Spelling: We will NOT be having a spelling test this coming week Friday. Due to spring break and our prayer Service of the Washing of the Feet.
Social Studies: This week, we have been building on our knowledge what happens first, next, and last. We have be able to connect this to our reading and our comprehension. This has been done to make sense of each of the steps either through a picture or without one! We also have started talking about Earth and our natural resources! Which works out amazing because we have been able to connect to what we have learned in science about water–such as lakes, rivers, and oceans and why they are important.
Religion: We have been working hard practicing for the prayer service of The Washing of the Feet! We also have began learning about Popes, Cardinals, and Bishops in Religion! 🙂
**Our Prayer Service of Washing of the Feet is LESS THAN ONE WEEK AWAY! Every single child is included in this Prayer Service. Remainder it is on April 2nd in the Church at 9:30 Am. Your Child MUST be here unless you have already spoken to me.
Reading: We have working together with our small group reading our supplemental reading books along with our decodables. We then begin discussing what has been happened in the stories, and building on our knowledge. We do this at the same time with our resource officer, Mrs. Sigel. Also, we have been able to connect what we have learned about in the books back to what we have been learning about Wilson! 🙂
We have been working EXTREMELY hard with our comprehension (remembering what is going on/happening throughout the story!)
**Remember to keep filling out those reading logs! 🙂 They are due each Monday unless we do not have school so in that case, they would be due on Tuesdays! Thank you!!!!!! 🙂
