1st Grade Learning and FUN! :)

Hi there my wonderful families!,

Math: Math workbooks have been sent home. Each day when homework is assigned, it will be coming from that Into Math book! The next day, I will be checking their work! Please ensure that your child is completing their work:) There is no math homework for this weekend, but starting next week, math tests will be given more.  The night before the test, I will send home a worksheet for the kids to complete so that they are better prepared for this test!

Wilson: We have been hard at work with our Wilson program. We have been cruising through Unit 3. Please ensure that you are going through the sounds and letters with your child! We have finished up with our Unit 3 learning, and we will be taking the test next week, due to it being a shortened week this week!

Spelling: These tests will be given every Friday. New lists will be sent home each week.

I sent home new lists today with your child! (Just in case they were lost, always better to be prepared!) This week’s words are:

Quick, man, fan, shell, and ham.

Sentences:

1.) They ran from the back of the mall.

2.) Does she have the pan for Rick?

Please practice saying and spelling the words. Focusing on uppercase and lowercase letters! Please focus on the sentences as well! 🙂 We will be taking the spelling test on 11/14 instead of 11/7 due to it again being a shortened week! Please keep ensuring your child is studying the words and writing them out as it is a written test!

Social Studies: This week, we discussed the rules and the guidelines of a community. We also been discussed the fairness in rules, and how rules gives us order and protects our rights that we all have!

Science: We have been talking about animals and adaptations through Generation Science, which is our Science Program! We also discussed communication with sounds in the world! With the weather changing, we dived deeper into how the season of Fall works! (For example, we learned about the leaves falling and changing colors!)

Reading: We have been reading different types of books talking through emotions and what happens through the book in our own words! We also have been talking about informational texts versus fictional! We are very grateful to have Storytime with our volunteering librarian (Mrs. Flood) on Thursday’s as well! This coming week, we will be using our tools of compare and contrast to follow along the adventures and experiences of characters in such stories!

Our first Mystery Guest Reader and Star Student of the week have been posted! If you are interested in being a Mystery Guest Reader, please just let me know!

Our first Star Student has received their poster and will be given each day to do something different! I am so excited to see it grow and to see all the special things your child can do!

And as always, I am so grateful to have your child in my 1st grade classroom with me! 🙂

Thank you so very much for all you do,

Miss M. 🙂
