Hi there my wonderful first-grade families! 🙂 AND HAPPY SPRING BREAK!!! We made it!!! 🙂
Math: Each morning, the students work through their Simple Solutions workbooks. We have been working hard throughout our module workbooks, and have been learning more and more about math. We finished up Module 11 this week and after Spring Break, we will begin Module 12.!
****Please ensure your child is doing their homework each day as it has been more practice for what we have been working on, and it has been helping them with their OWN learning! It really does help build on their own progress! 🙂
Wilson: We have been hard at work with our Wilson program. We have moved onto Unit 9! We have been talking about consonant blends and digraph blends! We have been building on that knowledge and learning about our base words and then how we can make them plural! We have started building on knowledge on what we have learned about closed syllables, and started vowel teams. We have learned how to mark them and what to look for to determine if it is a closed syllable or not. We have been building our knowledge about nouns and verbs. 🙂 We also have been talking about past, present, and future tenses.
Spelling: We will NOT be having a spelling test until after spring break.
Social Studies: We have be able to connect this to our reading and our comprehension within our science learning! This has been done to make sense of each of the steps either through a picture or without one! We also have started talking about Earth and our natural resources! Which works out amazing because we have been able to connect to what we have learned in science about water–such as lakes, rivers, and oceans and why they are important.
Religion: I think Washing of the Feet went AMAZING! Thank you so very much for all your support and it came out wonderful! The link to The Washing of the Feet Prayer Service will be sent out soon!
**We did it!**
Reading: We have working together with our small group reading our supplemental reading books along with our decodables. We then begin discussing what has been happened in the stories, and building on our knowledge. We do this at the same time with our resource officer, Mrs. Sigel. Also, we have been able to connect what we have learned about in the books back to what we have been learning about Wilson! 🙂
We have been working EXTREMELY hard with our comprehension (remembering what is going on/happening throughout the story!)
**Remember to keep filling out those reading logs! 🙂 They are due each Monday unless we do not have school so in that case, they would be due on Tuesdays! Thank you!!!!!! 🙂
