Here’s what we will be doing in class this week:

Religion:   This week we will talk about the meaning behind second week of Advent “PEACE”. The class will discuss ways we can help to encourage PEACE in the world today.  We will also continue learning about the terms Second coming and Stay Awake as they apply to Jesus coming again. As a class we will create list of ways to stay awake (in faith) and show discipleship for the 2nd coming.  The school will be attending 8:00 am Mass on Thursday to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Math: This week the class will be introduced to the math strategy of division.  During the week the students will seperate items into equal groups, learn the meaning of the terms: dividend (larger number AKA: Product), divisor (smaller number AKA: Factor), & Quotient (answer to the division problem AKA: Factor)They will see that division and subtraction are similar.

Science:   The students will learn about the terms:  variable and force as they apply to an experiment we will be doing during this unit.

Reading;  This week we will be reading an informational text about “Caribou: the real Reindeer”

Phonics The class will start the FOURTH unit in our Phonics cirriculum by learning about contractions and how to change a word that ends in “Y” to it’s PLURAL form by adding either-s or by changing the Y to and I and then adding -es.

Spelling:    Our words this week will be Christmas themed.  The list will contain words that center around both the birth of Christ true meaning of the season and SANTA themed.  There will be 10 of each variety.  The class will generate the list that will be sent home on Monday.
