Please be sure that your child eats a good breakfast each morning before coming to school they need the energy to stay focused. Also remember to send in healthy snacks to enjoy during snack time.

Here’s what we will be doing in class this week:
Religion: This week the class will learn how Jesus chose his Apostles to lead the Church. We will talk about the fact that that the Pope and bishops are the successors of the Apostles. As we learn about the jobs that the Apostles had and that the Pope and Bishops now do, we will learn about the four marks of the Church: ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC and APOSTOLIC.
Math: This week we will begin the Seventh Module in our series. This module will help us see that Division and Multiplication are related.
Social Studies: We will learn what the terms: region, physical environment, landform, ecosystem and climate mean. We will also learn where the 5 different regions are in the US.
Reading; During the week the class will be working on their comprehension skills as they define unfamiliar words using context clues. They will also answer questions centered around short passages read as a whole class and independently.
Phonics: The class has finished the fourth unit in our Phonics series. As we worked through this unit we reviewed these skills: contractions, syllables, changing singular words into their plural forms. We also worked with suffixes and endings. This week the students will spend time reviewing this skills and take a quiz on Thursday.
Spelling: This week’s words are a review of Units 13 to 17. Due to the short week and field trip we will spend two weeks on the review unit and take the Spelling test on February 14th.
Fun Things to Remember this week:
Tuesday February 11th: 8:00 am Mass Please join us in Mass if your schedule allows. The kids love sitting with you during the Mass.
Wednesday February 12th: February Prayer will be recited. We will attend a PBIS assembly
Friday February 14th: Valentine party during our lunch time. Please be sure to send your child’s Valentine box to school today. Valentine Color Dress Down Day for $1.00 to benefit the American Heart Association.
