Hello Everyone!  I hope you are having a great Weekend

Please be sure that your child eats a good breakfast each morning before coming to school they need the energy to stay focused.  Also remember to send in healthy snacks to enjoy during snack time.

March Book Reports:  Students should be looking for a series chapter book (NO GRAPHIC NOVELS) to read.  Book report projects are due on the 27th of March.

Tuesday, March 4th:  Join us for 8:00am Mass if your schedule allows.  Pack a fun snack for the afternoon to celebrate FAT TUESDAY.  

Wednesday, March 5th:  Join us for 10:00 am Ash Wednesday if your schedule allows.

Thursday March 6th:  Wear stripes and your favorite hat to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s Birthday 120th birthday. 

Friday, March 7th:  Join us for Stations of the Cross today at 2:30 in the Church.  Wear your favorite PJs.  Title for March book report book due today.  Title of the Book being read for the March Book Report due today:  Worth 5 points toward the March Book Report project.

Here’s what we will be doing in class this week:

Religion:  This week we will be learning more about the season of LENT.   The students will see the purpose of making LENTEN promises.

Math: This week we will be starting a unit about finding the perimeters of shapes using inches, centimeters, addition and multiplication.  Please be aware that homework this week will be completing pages P113 – P120.  MSS L 85 – 88 will be due by Friday.

Science:  We will continue with the unit about Plant Life Cycles.  The students will learn about the meaning of these terms: germinates, flower, reproduce (as it applies to plants) pollen, pollination, spores.  

Reading;  During the week the class will be working on their comprehension skills as read the iReady story “Zel the Gentle Donkey” The students will define unfamiliar words using context clues.  They will also answer questions centered around the short passage read as a whole class and independently.  

Phonics:   During the week the class will be working with vowel diphthongs (a vowel pair sound that combines two adjacent vowel sounds within a single syllable (ow – now, ou – house).  digraphs ( aw, au, ea, ei, or, and oo).  We will complete Unit 5 this week in our Phonics series.  

Spelling:   The students will work with words that contain the r-controlled vowel sound of /ur/.

I have a bachelors degree in Communication and a Masters in Elementary Education. I received both degrees from Concordia University.
