Here’s what we will be doing in class this week:
Religion: This week we will be learning about the legend of St. Patrick. The class will learn about places Jesus taught his followers to pray. The class will learn about the liturgy and the fact that it is an official form of public prayer.
Math: This week we will continue learning how to find the area and perimeter and area of shapes. Students will work to find the length of a missing side as well. MSS L 93 – 96 will be due by Friday.
Social Studies: As a class we will learn about people who came to America from other countries and how they settled here. We will learn about the terms ancestors,immigrants, symbols. The class will read Jane Addams and her contribution to Chicago to help immigrants.
Reading; During the week the class will be working on their comprehension skills as they read the iReady story “Why Monkeys Have Tails” The students will define unfamiliar words using context clues. They will also answer questions centered around the short passage read as a whole class and independently.
Phonics: As a class we will review the rules for breaking a word into syllables and ID compound words. The students will also work with words that have prefixes and divide them into syllables.
Spelling: This week’s spelling words contain complex consonants
