Here’s what we will be doing in class this week:
Religion: This week we will begin using the Growing With God series. The first lesson has the class exploring ways they are unique in God’s kingdom. The second lesson has the students looking at and sharing their ideas about the terms: personal boundaries and appropriate behaviors.
Math: We will take the test for Chapter 11 on Monday. Then the class will begin learning about telling time. During the week , the class will learn to read, write, and tell time on analog and digital clocks to the nearest minute. They will use both an analog clock and a number line to measure time intervals in minutes. MSS L 97 – 100 will be due by Friday.
Social Studies: This week we will learn about two writers Mary Antin and Langston Hughes. These writers, wrote about their experiences migrating from one country to another. The class will also learn about these direction words: North, South, East, West, North West, South West and North East.
Reading; This week we will be reading short stories about an Easter Bunnies adventures to get some ideas for writing our own stories. The students will be filling out a planning page for their stories to help them organize their thoughts before writing the story.
Phonics: The class will review how to segment words when two or more consonants come between 2 vowels. The students will also practice segmenting words into syllables when a single consonant is between 2 vowels in a word.
Spelling: This week’s spelling words will be a review of Units 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23.
