Tales From the Third Grade Classroom May 26th to 30th

 

Please be sure that your child eats a good breakfast each morning before coming to school they need the energy to stay focused.  Also remember to send in healthy snacks to enjoy during snack time.

Here’s what we will be doing in class this week:

Religion:  We will be working to finish our Second Steps Series

Math:  This week the students will identify, describe, and represent fractions on a number line, and relate fractions on a number line to parts of a whole and group fraction models. MSS this week the students will be responsible for completing lessons 125 – 128.  If the students would like to work ahead and complete the rest if the lesson in the book they are welcome.  

Social Studies:  This week the class will be learning about the Flag, Pledge of Allegiance and Betsy Ross.

Reading;  We will be working with an iReady Reading passage “How a Grey Bird Became a Cardinal” this week.  

Phonics:   We will review homonyms, synonyms, antonyms, homophones, homographs and ABC order as we finish our Phonics workbook.     

Spelling:  Our spelling words this week will have the students working with base words that have the suffixes -er and -est added to them.  There will be spelling homework on both Tuesday and Thursday nights.

My name is Lisa Gearen. I started teaching at St. Cletus in 2003. I taught first grade for 14 years and now teach 3rd. I have a bachelors degree in Communication and a Masters in Elementary Education. I received both degrees from Concordia University. I also have an associates degree in Early Childhood Education as well as being a Certified Catechist.
Language
