Here’s what we will be doing in class this week:

Religion:  This week the class will talk about how Jesus taught us how to live as his followers.  This will help us deepen our understanding of how to live as Jesus’ disciples .

Math:   We have finished the first chapter in our Math Books and will be taking a short test this week. Concepts that were covered in the first chapter had the students learning strategies that will help them solve multiplication problems.  These strategies are arrays, bar models, number lines, and the commutative property of multiplication.

Science:  We will continue the chapter about designing  a solution to a problem.

Reading;  Our first story this year is titledLocation, Location Location.”  This is a story about a boy who is trying to find a GREAT location to sell Lemonade.  “Location, Location, Location” is a short story taken from the novel “Lemon Ade Wars.”  As the class reads the story, they will be asking and answering questions both verbally and using worksheets posted on our google classroom to enhance their comprehension skills.  The class will be defining unfamiliar words from the story.

Phonics:  We have finished the first unit in our phonics books having review the concepts of the hard and soft sounds of C & G.  The students also revisited locating the initial, medial and final sounds in words.

Spelling:  The Third Unit list in our Spelling Series contains words that have either a short u or short o sounds.  The students will continue using google classroom to complete the spelling work that will be assigned each week.  The class will be taking both a list and a standardized spelling list this Friday.  Please be sure to help your child study the words during the week so they are prepared.
