Tales From the Third Grade Classroom September 30th to October 4th

Fun things to remember for the week:

Thursday October 3rd:  Picture Day

Here’s what we will be doing in class this week:

Religion:  As a class we will talk about ways our understanding of how to live as Jesus’ disciples has strengthened.  We will look at ways we have heard about how Jesus tells us of God’s Love through Jesus’ teachings about the Kingdom of God.  Our 2nd Steps cirriculum will have the students learning that people can have  2 conflicting feelings as they go through one situation. We will talk about the possible reasons for someone’s conflicting feelings.

Math:   This week the class will finish Module 2 which had the students finding the area of a shape using multiplication.  We will then begin Module 3 about learning to solve multiplication problems that have one of these factors 2, 4, 3, 6, 5, and 10 multiplied by another factor.

Science:  The class will finish the Chapter about finding ways to supply the changing needs of living things over time.

Reading;   This week we will continue reading  the novel “The Case of the Gasping Garbage.”   This novel is about a group of friends who are interested in solving mysteries and conducting science experiments.  As we read this novel, the class will spend time talking about how characters actions, and events effect the out comes of the different stories we read.

Phonics:  Students will review the sounds of Long I, E, O and U in words.

Spelling:  The spelling words this week contain words that we have spent time working with in Units 1 – 5.
