Tales From Third Grade: December 15th to 19th

Please remember that Christmas Book Reports are due on Monday.
As you are doing errands this weekend, please grab a small (larger bottles are welcome too) BOTTLE (NOT a glue stick!) of WHITE Elmer’s Glue and send it to school with your child on Monday.  These will be used for making parent Christmas Gifts this week.

Pajama dress down day on Thursday – sponsored by our Student Council.  Students are welcome to bring in a kid size blanket to cozy up in as they enjoy Hot Chocolate and homemade cookies as we watch a Christmas movie.  Title to be determined by the class.  This is my Christmas gift to the kids.

Friday is a Christmas dress up day for the kids (We will still be going to GYM so please either wear or bring gym shoes).  We will attend 9:30 Mass presented by our Kindergarteners and their 8th Grade Buddies.  If you are available, please join us.  Our class will also be enjoying pizza for lunch donated by Brayden Dorgan and his family.  Thank you, Brayden.  There is NO NEED to order hot lunch for Friday.  Please send in an additional food your child may need / want as well as a drink.  If you order milk, it will still be provided.  We get out of school at 2:00 on Friday and there will NOT be any aftercare.

Monday December 22Tuesday, January 5th:  Christmas Break- No School.  Classes resume Tuesday, January 6th.

Wednesday, December 17th:  Students are being asked to bring in an old (retired) backpack or sturdy reusable grocery bag to store their desk supplies over Christmas break so that our WONDERFUL maintenance crew can clean our rooms (including the kid’s desks).  Please have them to school by Wednesday, December 17th.  If you are leaving before the 19th, please let me know so that I can have your child put their supplies in their bags before leaving.
Thursday, December 18th   Christmas Program at 7:00pm in the Church . All students are encouraged to come.  Please have your child dress in festive Christmas clothes.  Students should be in the Church by 6:45 at the latest.  Please have your child stay with you until they are called to stand on the bleachers for the performance.  Please keep your child’s coat with you while the performance is going on.  After the program, the students will be led around the Church so that they can find you.  Before your child goes to their spot on the bleachers, please be sure they know where you will be sitting.   I believe we will be on the bleachers to the right of the Alter when you walk in the Church.   I will let you know if there is any other information.

Things to think about over the break

January Book Report:  Biography.  Students should think about a person (sports, actor, etc . . .) that they would like to learn more about and find a chapter book to read.  A FANTASTIC series to look at is “WHO WAS . . .”  More details about the project will be given when we return from break.

January Poems:  Poems will be sent home on Friday December 19th and presented on the January 20th.

January Prayer:  Prayers will be recited on Friday 16th
