Tales From Third Grade: December 1st to 5th

Hello Everyone:

Thank you all for coming to conferences on the 25th.  Please be sure to fill out the gift tags that I gave you for gifts your child buys at the Christmas Shop next week.  Please let me know if you did not receive them or if you would like additional stickers.  Please have these stickers filled out and returned to school by this Friday so that they are ready for our shopping trip on Monday December 8th.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving that was filled will a lot of family time and laughter.

Please remember to send in the title of the Christmas CHAPTER Book that your child has chosen to read.  The project for the presentation will be a Christmas themed  poster.  Presentations will be the week of December 15th.  I am asking that the students read their chosen Christmas CHAPTER book for the weekly reading logs.

Phonics:  This week the class will use final consonant blends.  The students will review when the letter “Y” acts as a vowel or a consonant words.

Spelling:  Our spelling words this week contain these blends ch, sh, tch, th, wr and ck.

Writing:  We will begin writing a story titled:  If I Had a Pet Reindeer.  Students will get a question to answer at the beginning of each day.  These answers will help the students develop an outline for their stories.  The outline will then be used to write their stories.
