Here is what we have been up to:
Math: FRACTIONS! We have begun our multi-unit of Fractions! Fractions are all around us and without even knowing it, we use fractions multiple times a day. We have begun to learn about common multiples which will help us determine common numerators and denominators. We will use this knowledge to then help us relate fractions to decimals and angles.
ELA: In class we have been working on plurals and possessive nouns. The focus has also been on prepositions and being able to identify them within a sentence.
Spelling: Our spelling words have been focusing on digraphs and blends. Next week, we will work with words that end with er/est.
Religion: As we continue our Lenten journey, the students are asked a daily reflection question that helps them keep on track to uphold their Lenten Promise. We have also been discussing the 4th commandment and will be starting the 5th Commandment the middle of next week.
Science: The students have been learning about energy and where it comes from. Through experiments and activities they have also been able to experience first hand how energy is transferred. Ask your student if they were able to light up their bulb!
Social Studies: We have wrapped up the Southeast Region and will begin to dive into the Northeast. Once this region is completed the students will be tasked with reciting all 50 states and Capitals.
Reading: In reading, the class has been reading the chapter book, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. They have been participating in class discussions, and completing comparisons to other stories they have read. As they wrap up this book, they will prepare for their test and have already begun discussions of what they will read next.
iReady: Each week the class works towards completing at least 2 lessons with a passing score of 80% or more. Our last goal was met and the class is looking forward to having a Show and Tell afternoon. More information will be emailed once we have set a date! Our next goal is yet to be set, but we are already 1/3 of the way there!
A few reminders…
Mass: We will be attending 8am Mass each Tuesday. Students should be dropped off at their regular drop off points and head into the classroom. School doors will open at 7:45 am to allow students time to put away their belongings and head to the church as a class. Students arriving late should head straight to church.
Homework is given every Monday-Thursday. Each night your child should be reading a minimum of 30 minutes. They will also have Simple Solutions (Math), spelling and Math homework. This needs to be completed when assigned and turned in the following day. Going forward, any late work will receive partial credit.
