Here is what is going on in the classroom!
Math: We are starting our unit on understanding multiplication and we will use different methods to help us solve a variety of equations. Keep practicing those multiplication facts!
Reading: We have been looking at a series of stories about folk tales from around the world. We have read one from the Philippines, China, and are now reading some that are based here in the United States. We will begin our first chapter book after Halloween, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.
Science: We have begun our unit on energy. We will discuss how:
- Energy can be converted from one form to another.
- Electricity can transfer energy from place to place.
- Light, sound and heat also transfer energy.
Religion: We are learning about our conscience. We have been talking about how our conscience guides us in making the right decision and doing things that will help others.
ELA: We will be looking at words that have a long u sound. We have also turned our focus in LA to working with quotation marks. This will be very helpful when we begin our thanksgiving writing from the Turkey’s perspective of not wanting to be eaten.
