¡Adios Invierno, Hola Primavera!

Welcome, Spring!

Feliz Cumpleaños, Felix! Thank you for the yummy popsicles – a nice treat to start spring! Hope you enjoyed the “reading squad” as a way of celebrating with you!

Bienvenida Camila – we are so happy to have you in our classroom!

¡Gracias, Mrs. Mecozzi, for being this week’s Mystery Reader! We really appreciate you answering all the questions about the book..

This week was lots of fun! We read La Oruga Muy Hambrienta and had time to make our very own caterpillar craft. By doing this activity, we practiced our counting and color coordination. We also practiced our colores and figuras (shapes).

This week we also celebrated el día de San Patricio (St. Patrick’s Day) and we saw a short Veggie Tales episode en Español which explained the story of how St. Patrick became a Saint.  You can watch our students sending a “lucky” message in Spanish which was highlighted by the University of Notre Dame on their social media platforms!

We also want to say “Gracias” to the Jimenez family for the yummy donuts!

During the week, we practiced our phonemic awareness and our students were able to associate a funny word to a category (I.e Funny word: zenero real word: enero). We continued reviewing our number del 1 al 20 and reviewed the letter Uu and also began letter Vv.

Next week, we will finish letter Vv and begin letter Ww. We will also continue practicing our numbers and daily routines. We will also have a lesson on “who is the favorite student in class”? With this lesson, we hope to have our students understand that God created all of them to be unique  and that they are all the favorite student in class!

During the upcoming week, we will be focused on hearing positive affirmations and boosting student confidence in class. The goal is to help them understand that no one is more important than anyone else in the eyes of God.

In addition, Ms. Sonia and I have been mentioned [to our students] that we will be making a class piñata. We will begin this process soon! Our goal is to break the piñata on el cinco de mayo (May 5th).

We’re truly in the home stretch now! If anyone is interested in helping out in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re also still looking for a few more Mystery Readers who haven’t had a chance to visit us yet. DLI loves having you and always enjoys guessing who the next reader will be
