Bienvenido noviembre! 10/28/24 -11/01/24

This week was extremely fun in DLI!

We learned all about letter Dd and we practiced counting and recognizing numero 7. We also started our Dia de los Muertos craft for this week (we will continue next week). We learned about the elements om the altar and learned that Día de los Muertos is a day to remember those who are no longer with us and to honor their life. It was also very lovely to see our “Mi altar de Muertos” page! Thank you for sharing with us!

While visiting our school’s altar, I showed a the students a picture of my grandmother who passed away last week in Mexico. They were all very sweet and compassionate. Rose, immediately added that my grandmother had gone to heaven with God, and Ava and Dusty (doggies).  It is extremely rewarding to see how much they are starting to understand feelings.

We also had our Halloween Party which was a great success! Thank you to all the parents who helped behind the scenes and during the party! Our students had lots of fun! They even danced Las Calaveras Salen de su Tumba. Trunk-or- Treat was also so much fun!  Also – thank you for making Mr. Ochoa’s birthday surprise possible 🙂!  He was very grateful and appreciative!

To end this week, we celebrated Dia de los Muertos by having Pan de Muerto and hot chocolate. We also read “El Día de los Muertos en Sesame Street” and began watching Coco.  Finally, some of our DLI students participated in the school-wide Day of the Dead altar blessing led by Fr. Elmer Romero.  After the blessing, Fr. Elmer visited our classroom and enjoyed speaking to the students in Spanish!

Next week, we will continue celebrating Dia de los Muertos and will also start learning about being grateful. We will learn about numero 8 and letra Ff.
