First Grade Fun!

Good morning parents!

We had a very interesting week in first grade.  Yesterday, we did the first of our “Nature Walks.” We brought a beach blanket, a stuffie, book, and journal and went in to the courtyard to enjoy nature.  We wrote poems, drew pictures, and just “soaked up the sun.” We are looking forward to many more of these warm days in the future.

This Friday, May 10, is the “Father-Daughter Dance.” The girls will bring their dads to the school, and have a wonderful evening of food and dancing.  This will be a very special night for our girls.

On Sunday, May 12, we celebrate “Mother’s Day.” We honor our mothers, and are so thankful for them. We made little presents in class to give to our moms.  We hope they have a wonderful day with the family and know how very much we love and appreciate them.

On Monday, May 13, first and second graders will spend the day at the Brookfield Zoo. We are hoping for a nice, warm day to walk around the zoo.  There are so many new exhibits to see, and animals to learn about.  We can’t wait until Monday!

In math, we are finishing one of our math books, and are starting two-digit addition next week. In Reading, we continue to marvel at the adventures of the Superkids, and are very glad to have this program in first grade.

Enjoy the Mother’s day weekend with your mom, and always be grateful that she is in your life. Also, remember to honor our Blessed Mother, who is also our mother in heaven.
